In the past few months, I've just been enjoying my AW17. No issue in games, but some hesitation with blu-rays, not to mention 3D blu-rays. I've been holding off installing my upgrades hoping for one more case part (screen back, mine is broken) before I opened it up and installed all of the upgrades. I would like to open it one time, install everything and be done. I've been watching the discussion on GPU's, but can't quite sort out the current state. What is the most capable GPU I can install and not lose 3D? Is the 980M ready? Sorry to ask what is probably a dumb question, but most of the posts in reference to this assume quite a bit of knowledge. Thanks.

I believe the 900-series GPUs will not handle 3D.

As Ramzay has said , the 980m isn't 3d capable so the newest GPU capable of handling 3D would be the 880m and that particular iteration didn't go over very well.
