I am attempting to get my PS4 and PS3 connected to my Alienware 17, and the result of connecting with HDMI cable is the attached picture to this post.

I have tried most recent drivers (both Nvidia and Intel), old drivers, and stock drivers with no change. I have tried both the PS3 and PS4 with different HDMI cables, and connected a DVD player with the same result. All devices function perfectly on TV and a desktop monitor I tested on.

I am a bit lost on what to do next. I have adjusted resolution settings on devices, and it switches, but makes no change in the multiple images that is shown.

Anyone have any ideas? I have an Alienware 17 R5 with Nvidia 765m chipset.

I'm no expert beardzerker, but have you looked at the scaling options in Nvidia Control Panel?

The nvidia GPU has nothing to do with this. This might be a motherboard issue.

Since drivers don't have any change in the resulting image, I am thinking that there is something hardware wise that isn't working. Has anyone else used the HDMI in on their machine? This is the first time I have tried it, and I am somewhat frustrated to see that it isn't working.

the only thing that controls it is the OSD because the OSD controls the function keys. without the OSD installed you can't even switch between optimus and dedicated modes and you need it to switch between hdmi in and out modes.

but sounds like a problem with the board. personally i would just buy a monitor and connect my ps4 to it (and i do) and that works out better.

I have used mine several times including with my PS3 and it worked great so I would have to agree with gh0sts that something might be wrong hardware wise.
