I was told my model has a MXM and I can upgrade my GTX 860 to a more current card

Where can I buy that card to upgrade?

Also make sure to have a 240w PSU if you buy a 970/980m.

You'll have to sell your card and use some of the cash to buy the new one.

New MXM cards are expensive. The 970M is somewhere along the lines of $600. This is one downside of having sockets and being able to upgrade your laptop. The two components you would want to upgrade (CPU/GPU) can typically cost more than half of what a new laptop would.

You can often sell your old laptop, and with a few extra hundred dollars more than what the GPU upgrade would have cost you, you get a brand new laptop.
