    hi everyone :)
    I will be ordering Aw17 today,specs are:
    4910Mq processor
    Geforce gtx880m
    16 gb Ram
    Display 120hz

I live in Pakistan and a cousin of mine will be delivering the system to me as soon as he receives it in the US. So before sending it here i want it to be checked there in the US if its working properly because it wont be easily possible to return it all the way back again. My question is what sorts of tests should i run to check if its all good; I have been searching for the system performance scores and temps under stress but havn't found much information . I hope u people dont mind me but any help regarding this issue will be more than appreciated :) looking forward for your help :)

You obviously want physical (keyboard, screen, speakers and casing), go through all the control functions such as keyboard lighting. Then things like the XTU stress test, and furmark.

You can also boot up and f12 and go into the diagnostics...

    Hey there

If you haven't ordered it yet, I would recommend sticking with the 4700MQ CPU (except if you use applications which DO need the CPU you've chosen) and buying with the money you've saved a nice SSD which you can install and use as an OS drive.

If he likes to tweak then the 4810MQ would still offer excellent tweaking potential and save enough for an SSD usually.

Actually choosing 4910 was for rendering purposes, mostly for architectural visualizations.i may use it for tweaking...i am a student of architecture but i prefer AW instead of precision workstations .. i used to have aw17 r3 and was quiet happy with its performance.... I believe the setup has been ordered as of yet, its with 1tb-80gb cache drive but i will be updating the ssd separately.. any suggestions would be welcomed :) and thank you for replying :)

Oh well you'll most definitely benefit from that CPU!

As for the SSD, I was in the same boat as you and got my AW17 with an mSata SSD as a cache drive and a 1 TB hard-drive. I bought a Samsung 840 Evo 250GB and use that as my OS drive. Of if you have some extra $$$, you could go for the new 850 Pro.

You need to figure out the kind of writes your applications do (and how much of it) to make the most informed decision on an SSD. Is it large amounts of random type data or is it compressible? Do you not write much?

It is large amount of random data mostly, i do have two external drives to store my previous data and software. I have not used an ssd before so i have no idea about its performance as of yet :p
