Why is this 'Super computer" soooooooo slow? I mean doing anything. It really sucks worse than a P3. Check these images-

Is it bc of this Latency issue I've read about or the Stealth mode? Do I have to turn Stealth off/on everytime I start or resume the computer?
I paid almost $1500 bones for this mug and my p-7805u is Waaaaaaaaay better so far. What's up.

And I ran 3DMark 06 and ended up with 9662. What the $%^&*()_!!!!!!
Anyway, some help would be loved. BIOS is AO3. Did a Respawn right before the screen shots. That was the first thing I did when I logged in. AV, then screenies. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Is your SLI actually active?

It seems like you're running off only only 1 card.

Are you Overclocking the CPU or RAM any?

No and no on the OC. And did you see the pics? Task manager would have nothing to do with SLI, right? It does seem as though it is just one card. Maybe drivers there. But my bigger isue is the TM showing 50%-70% while typing a stupid web address. Killing me!

Uninstall command center and try again. See if it helps. There was an old bug with CC causing a memory leak.

You can reinstall command center again.

And no you dont need it for the colors. it will stay what ever color you have it set at when you uninstall the program

So, I went into the BIOS, disabled the integrated graphics, and it is much, much better. But, how aggravating to do that each time you want some decent battery life(re-enable integrated). Good for road travel and such. Guess it's not a big deal. Now, to 3D Mark again.
Any more pointers for this machine before closing?

I would disable hybrid also via the bios.

AVG antivirus may be wonderful at stopping vruses but I found it put a heavy load on even fast computers when you first start up, especially if you didn't disable the option for a daily scan. That grinds away at the hard drive for quite a while and makes your computer feel like a dog.

I'm using Avast antivirus now. It's also free but doesn't slow things down the way AVG can.

You need to click on that button that says Show Tasks of All Users. Windows isn't that dumb. It knows how to add. There are other background tasks running on your computer slowing it down.

For task manager CPU usage, click the Show Processes From All Users. That is most likely the reason why it doesn't add up...

Also, try messing around with stealthmode. On my old M17x it seemed to turn on by itself occasionally... At first I thought something was wrong with it but it was just stealth mode.

You might want to grab the program in this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware/463382-stealth-mode-indicator.html

It's a quick way to know if you're in stealth mode or not. It also lets you enable and disable it.

OK. I try to enable hybrid, bc I need it for the road and battery life. But everytime I have to restart and then I have no nVidia CP. This is really getting annoying. Anybody want an M17x for $1500? Ugggggghh!

A long battery life is not something a m17x will give you. It works better as a mobile workstation, which you can carry around from power source to power source ;)

I agree. Thats why I stopped using it as well. I use Avira antivir now & it has a very small footprint. It's free as well.

I realize that. Thanks for the answer and help. Still would like to get more than 13 1/2 minutes on battery(scarcasm). It's not that bad. Plus, I installed the 2574 nVidia Verde drievers and now it switches to Stealth automatically. So there goes my driver issue. Seems to be good so far.

May check it out. But does it protect as good? That.......is the question.
