I sold my m14x to my brother and I decided to upgrade to an M17X. I didn't go for the 7970m like everyone would suggest because I couldn't afford it. I was wondering how the 660m stacks up though to current games out there.
Also, is it possible to have two 660m's? Can the GPU be upgraded down the line?

only one gpu and yes it can be upgraded

EDIT: Unless you meant the m17x r2?? -
Did you already order? I'd MAKE it happen with the 7970m if I were you.

Keep in mind that, if you do end up buying a M17x, that you should ensure that you have the 1920x1080 display in your configuration. You shouldn't buy a M17x in any configuration that has the 1600x900 (900p) display instead of the 1920x1080 (1080p) display.
17.3" 1600x900 displays limit multitasking by making things onscreen large, and tend to have terrible image quality due to low contrast. This type of display is no better than what is available in a sub-$500 notebook, and I don't recommend this type of display to those who have a budget that allows them to get a laptop that has a better display and at the same time suits their needs, and who don't require larger text for eyesight-related reasons. -
Well it's something that I actually overlooked really, but there's not many high end games that I really play that may utilize the high end graphics except for The Witcher 2. Most of the time I've been playing on my M14x was Tera Online lately. I've played Minecraft and Crysis 2 and I can get some pretty good FPS on Crysis 2 on very high with an overclock of 800. Unfortunately Summer is coming and I live in a desert, so I can't maintain that high of a clock.
Besides, my brother wanted my laptop and I just couldn't justify buying the same sized laptop.
Other than the occasional casual gaming I do, I opted for the bigger one because I do take my laptop to my girlfriend's house to watch movies and such. Will I regret settling for the 660m? If I do I can just upgrade can't I?

It will be cheaper if u just go for the 7970m instead of doing it later. I think all you need is 1080p and the 7970m and you are good to go. And yes you will probably regret not getting the 7970m straight up when you were configuring your system. All can be basic like the cpu ram and etc and u can upgrade that yourself for cheap, cpu might not be but the 3610qm is very good and capable for your needs.
Also you should check out dell outlet they have good configs there. Stack it up with a discount code and you can get a excellent config for a really good price.

I was kinda hoping to upgrade to the 680m whenever that gets released ;]

If u really want to you can go that route sure its your laptop in the first place, but just letting you know that going straight to 7970m will be cheaper and the 7970m will be good for 2-3 years in preformance in imo.
