    Hi all,
my M17xR3 have Win7 installed on a single SSD (LITEONIT 256GB) and on the BIOS i have SATA operation set to AHCI. During the boot i don't have any message relative to Intel RAID bla bla..., only the alienware screen with F2 et F12 and then directly windows starting.
If i put a second HDD (WD 750GB) in the free rack, is windows recognize him automaticaly ? I read somewhere that for add a new HDD you need to use a RAID !!!

    Thanks for your help

First things first: yes you will be able to add a second HDD, you'll just have to format it in Windows and assign a drive letter for it (if it's new)

I also suggest you read more about RAID as I don't think this is what you want to do (no matter what RAID type. RAID configs are recommended for drives with similar specs (size, speed etc.) as the smallest size and slowest speed will be used.
    Have a read here:

So basically fit your HDD inside, format it and you're good to go.

    Cheers
