    Adding an external monitor help

    I'm adding an external monitor but when I connect it ot my alienware, it's just a black screen, anyone wanna help?

    FN+F6? You can select between computer LCD, both LCDs, or just the external.

    mk i just tried that, but nothing happened......nothing works even adjusting screen brightness.....is there an manual way for this?

    Reboot the laptop with the external attached. And the external is set on the input from the laptop? I know my TV has several HDMI inputs.

    Having the monitor looking for a DVI input when you've got HDMI attached, for instance. Do you have another monitor to try it on?

    I tried 2 monitors. But the one that i'm trying to connect with worked 2 weeks ago and this monitor is being used on a desktop

    Have you been in the Nvidia control panel and looked around for external monitor settings, etc.? I honestly have no other ideas at this point.
