I'm a stickler. And Stingy. We'll leave it at that. I just don't like knowing that i spent money when i could have gotten a better deal, fair enough?

That being said, I jumped on the 25% off EPP Hot Summer Savings deal that a rep extended to me when i told her my aunt works for the school that she went to. I haven't ordered yet, but I will be ordering in the next day or two.

My dilemma is this: I want great coverage and protection for my system, but I also want it to not be at a ridiculous price. Therefore, i've been searching around for insurance policies with coverage for accidental damage and theft protection (something that I'm not planning on needing, but i'm afraid to do without being at a university in a big city.). After some searching, i stumbled onto Worth Ave. Group, which seems awesome especially with their college plans.

Could anyone give me some insight/opinion on Third Party Insurance as opposed to Alienware's? Also, any stories of experiences with Worth Ave Group or similar companies would be greatly appreciated

I only got 1 year because I trust myself not to do anything that could damage my notebook. Plus it'll probably be sold in a year anyway.

Be wary of buying a warranty like Square Trade or similar because of the fact you have to mail it in. This is easier with a phone, but not so much with a 10lb+ laptop. Whereas Dell will diagnose the problem and have a tech come to your home and do the repair there.

I checked and you can get a 3 year warranty for $200, or you can get a 3 year + accidental damage warranty for $350. It's totally up to you what you like to do, but obviously this is much cheaper than what Dell offers. I hear nothing but good things usually about Square Trade, and their warranty transfers when you sell to someone else, or give to a family member.

I'd personally probably go with Square Trade, but I'm comfortable sending things like a laptop in the mail, and you may not be. Just go with your gut, and which one seems to be the better option for you.

    Best of luck to you.
