I have just recently sold my M11x and am looking to sell my M17x R2. With these funds I can either purchase an Aurora R3 desktop or a M17x r3. Keep in mind I still have a M14x that is three months old. My son just recently purchased the Aurora R3 and I was really impressed.

I use these computers for both work and gaming. I have not owned/used a desktop in almost a decade. Which machine would you purchase?

it really depends on what best fits your needs :) If you want a monster computer that can handle any game you throw at it, and you don't need portability, go with the aurora. If you need something portable that also has power go with the r3. its all really based on what you are looking for in a new machine :)

Don't buy an alienware desktop. Build it yourself and save the $$$.

If your really fearful of building your own desktop check the dell desktop outlet and buy an Alienware PC there, where they're literally trying to get rid of them for straight hardware price.

Edit : Forgot about that recent coupon, looks as if all the decently priced AW desktops have been scooped up.

    Oh ew...

Don't ever buy a Alienware desktop. Bunch of OEM garbage and cheap components.

Best custom build and get quality parts, whilst saving money and having fun.

kinda depends on whether or not you like the portability of a laptop. If you don't care about being in a stationary place, then a desktop makes more sense because they are so much more powerful at a lower price point. I bought the m17x because i'm often away from home a few nights a week on business so i need something portable and powerful

You say you already have an m14x for the portable stuff, then I would go for the Aurora. If you want Sandy Bridge the Aurora R3 is a nice choice. Like SkittlesXD said check the Dell Out let some are starting to trickle in and you can save a lot. ;) I can understand you saying how impressed you are I find my Area 51 a joy to use when I'am home.
