Hi!, I am thinking of getting it from Hidevolution and send it to Malaysia.
But I am having some issue troubling me. Please help me to sort it out.
    Thank you.

    Processor 2720,*
Operating System WIn7 home premium 64 bit
    Video: 2GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon HD 6990M
    LCD Panel 17.3-inch WideFHD1920 x 1080 60Hz WLED

    Memory 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz (2DIMMS)*
    Hard Drive 320GB 7,200RPM SATA-II HDD
Internal Optical Drive Slot-Load Dual Layer DVD Burner (DVD+-RW, CD-RW)
    Battery Options 85 WHr 9-Cell Lithium-Ion Battery
    Power Adapter
240 Watt 3 Prong AC Adapter with 6 ft Power Cord
    Wireless Cards
    Killer™ Wireless-N 1103 a/g/n 3x3 MIMO for Gaming *
    Bluetooth Bluetooth 3.0 Included
    Warranty and Service 1 yr*

    1) Is it worth to get 2720 for US$150 upgrade from 2630?

2)The ram and hard drive I will take care them myself. If I purchase 2 4gb ram later, is it better to leave the original ram in it or remove the initial 2x 2gb ram before I put in the new ram.

3)Regarding the wifi card 6330 and Big foot killer 1103, any recommendation.

If I order my set with basic WiFi card, any extra modification need to be done in order for those 3 antennas card work properly?

4)Regarding the Ownership transfer, Is it difficulty to transfer ownership to me? After the transfer, the initial 1 yr warranty is still valid right?

5)Is 1 yr warranty enough? I dun carry it around, Just travel oversea once every 2-3 month, always leave it at home or office.

The warranty for basic 4 yrs US$399 If I get it with the laptop. Is it worth it ? ( dun know it is cover by HID or dell, hopefully it is dell)

    * area that I am having trouble deciding...

Why not order straight from Dell.com.my?

I believe they do sell Alienwares at Dell booths during computer expos. Last I been to Pikom in KL they did have a giant alienware booth.

    1) No not really, it is cheaper to upgrade it later on (unless of course you do not want to)

    2) RAM is RAM. As long as you don't get BSOD/freezing, as long as it POSTs and passes several rounds of memtest.

    3) Intel WLAN is the best out. The gaming NIC/WLAN usually offer...slightly higher performance by giving higher priority to bandwidth sucking games.

    4) No it is not.

    5) Even if you don't carry it around, out of warranty Alienwares are $$$ to fix, especially if your motherboard or GPU goes out (OEM MXM cards are crazy expensive). If you don't want the hassle of buying parts and diagnosing the system yourself, I would opt for the longest warranty possible...nothing like a 2nd Nvidia scare to ruin your 2500 dollar gaming notebook.

I'm no expert on these things, but here's my 2 cents worth:

    1) If you can squeeze the $150 in your budget, then yes. The difference is relatively significant, compared to the rather negligible difference between a 2720 and 2820.
    2) Wondering this myself actually. I'm almost certain it would be better taking the original memory out, but would also appreciate an answer from someone more kowledgeable.
    3) BigFoot Killer has been getting positive reviews, but only if you can be bothered setting up QoS rules. If you don't do this, you'll notice no difference. Both are good WiFi cards so you'll be happy with either.
Not sure what you mean by that last question. Do you intend on ordering with the default card and upgrading yourself? Afaik all antennas are present and positioned properly so you'd just have to 'attach' them to your new card.
    4) Warranty is valid internationally so long as Dell Alienware is sold and serviced in your country (which it is according to denogun). HIDEvo will gladly transfer this over to you.

    Dell malaysia cost 2,980.78 USD,

    Hid cost US$2270, addon 8 gb ram, hard drive 750gb ,6300 wifi card =210 =together aproximate US$2500.

    Aprroximate US500 dollars price difference.

As u mention, now I also notice the price difference not really that big . Thus thinking of drooping 2720 in order to make it US$2350 include shipping.

Another option is Sager 8170, with similar spec (2630qm) cost me US1833
and 2720qm spec cost US1988. All include shipping.

There is 1 more option, that is M18x with 2630qm and Amd6990 crossfire (all other is smilar to the spec at the top except WIFI 6200 card)
    Cost US2712 include shipping.

Choice, choice, what should i do? lol

    1) I know that, just for another 150 for the cpu upgrade. The total cost is getting higher and higher. As u can notice that I am start looking at M18x already. lol There is no end.

    2) I though dual channel is better. If i add in mine , it become 12gb ram. Does it become better or worse? I need to become a technician to remove keyboard in order to get to the original ram.... ><... hardship and pity...

3)Intel looks good, big foot is getting positive review. But if it require personal tuning, then forget it. Basically, I want one which allow me to browse the web at the same using IDM for full speed downloading. :)
Dell basic wifi card always get blank page when downloading.

4)Yes, I worry if i get the basic card right, the m17x case come with 2 antennas, then where am i going to get the extra one, tv antenna can use? lol..... so from you people answer, it look like it basically come with 3 inbuilt in the case, just switch the wifi card right.

5)Warranty is a difficult decision for me, it is arond 16% to 20% of the cost.

As far as i know, if you are in europe and order something from outside the EU, you will have to pay taxes ( VAT and/or customs taxes ).

If I am not wrong, Malaysia not tax for IT product. Previously, I check with those sager reseller. But who knows what the custom can do.

One more thing, when I went to youtube and search sager np8170 crysis with gtx 485 , I can watch the video until finish, then i try alienware m17x r3 6970m or gtc 460 crysis game play, after I watch the video awhile, then I feel dizzy and headache.

What is going on? Is the different notebook screen, graphic cards or camera view causing this? Please help me to check out the video and comment.

I don't want to get headache everyday after paying such a high price gaming lappy.

The whole process of purchase from oversea retailer and shipping look more and more troublesome and unpredictable. (dun know what will happen in the process)

Now, my last option available, is to ask my sister who is in Australia to purchase for me(dun know whether she can carry). Now there are having 12% discount, (dun know whether she is a auto club member, 13% discount) and claim gst 9% ( can't get full 10% I believe) = Final price US2455.

    Memory 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz (2DIMMS)*
    Hard Drive (750GBx2) 7,200RPM
Internal 8X DVD + /-RW Drive with DVD + R double layer write capability

    Wireless Cards
    Killer™ Wireless-N 1103 a/g/n 3x3 MIMO for Gaming
    Bluetooth Bluetooth 3.0 Included

    What do you guy think?

If I purchase in australia, Is the 8X DVD + /-RW Drive slot load or just the normal drive?

Also how come so many people get the black one? the red one not nice??

Is the build quality of M17x r3 good? how come I saw more complaint coming up in the forum for the past few day? The M17x r3 have been release for quite sometime, it should be stable(performance and build quality) by now right?

Of course, it is serious. I am worry about 1)some video card are not playing smoothly, thus causing dizziness. 2)Laptop screen problem, or 3) the one who capture the video did it badly 4)I am not used to it.

I am not too sure what causing it , may be a isolated incident. Thus asking u people for opinion. Because I have to pick nividia or amd for my new laptop.

The only thing to worry about is if HIDevolution is trusted and it is not a scam?

It's like eBay. Someone might have successfully bought something from the seller, and after many sales come the day the seller cheats...

Malaysia has an IT tax exemption. Also, you might want to double check your shipping costs and reliability as last I heard there has been a lot of "kastam" cases lol.

yes, that's true.. the custom can say anything they want. You cant argue. Previously, when I returned from oversea, they tried to tax me on clothing. Nonsense, traveling then no need to do shopping.

I think i am going ask my sis to help me purchase in Australia. After discount and gst claim.. the price are closer to US price without coupon. But it is safer.

Hopefully, the M17x r3 set I am getting is a good set, unlike some horror case saw in the forum... :p
