Couple things to get out of the way first:

    1) Yes, I realize that airplane adapters typically top out at 90w, which is way short of what the R2 power brick provides.

    2) Yes, I realize that EmPower jacks can top out at closer to 75w

    3) Yes, I realize that non-Dell supplies are not supported

Okay, that being said I'm taking a big international trip. Last time I took my R1, this time it'll be the R2. Experimenting with the iGo power adapter that I purchased for my work Dell.

Trying this out on the R1, I found that in stealth mode the OS did not recognize that it was connected to AC power but it ran without draining the battery. I tried the same experiment on my R2 but got a different result. The OS balked at the non-dell adapter and told me that it refused to use it and would continue to run on battery, while the battery drained at a normal rate. Does anyone know anything about this or has anyone played with these before on Alienwares?

Update: I've found that if I don't play 3D games the iGo appears to work. As soon as I draw too much power though the adapter resets.
