i have a m17x r3. My lighting effects stopped working all of a sudden. although not all of them, the left side(#2 in the command center) of the keyboard still works and it even still cycles through the colors i have it set to, but non of the other lights work. if i go in the command center and try to do anything it gives me this error:

The device you have selected is included in the current theme but AlienFX cannot detect this device on your system. Do you want to remove this device from the current theme?

if i click no the that question it lets me into the command center and if i add one of the pre uploaded themes, and click apply, it says "updating info from active theme" then nothing happens.

iv tried turning it off and taking the batt out and holding the power button, no help. iv also tried uninstalling the command center and re-installing it with the driver from the dell driver website. nither have helped. even when i had everything uninstalled, the left side of the keyboard still worked, and cycled through the correct colors.

    appreciate any help.

thats basically what i did the first time i uninstalled and re installed, but i followed those instructions again. no change.

throughout the entire process, deleting different files, the left side of my keyboard never stopped cycling though the colors it did before.

iv read alot online about when the lights go out, its a motherboard malfunction. those people have no lights tho. i cant find anyone with the similar problem of having only part of the keyboard work and not the rest.

it may be worth noteing that the MIDDLE portion (and left side) of keyboard lights up at startup, but goes out before windows finish's starting up.

You aren't the only one. I am having the same problem with my brand-new AW17.

Was working perfectly until the AWCC 3.5 update.

The 3.5 update is buggy at best. But after a few reinstalls and power cycles it is functional. Eh, Mr. Fox should of advised people on the thread to be weary of it.

I downloaded the drivers from the intel website and then it happened.

i had a similar problem where the alienfx would not control the lights on the keyboard. they were stuck on a set color. i reinistalled several times and even reinstalled windows to no avail. finally i upgraded my bios ( i imagine a reflash would be the same) and everything worked fine after that. its way easier to do than it used to be to flash the bios so its worth a try
