Not when it goes to sleep.. Why do ppl keep mistaking that?

It's when you go to your power options and set your computer to "do nothing" when you shut your screen. If your computer is on, your alienhead should still be lit. If you have the crappy R3's with the "reflector," then it'll turn off because your alienhead is dependent on the screen's backlight. Lame right?

I gave this thread to Chris and I hope something comes out of it soon. Right now I have to get a few things replaced on my refurbished system including the LCD lid, trackpad and now this :/

    Not a good thing :(

If we have warranty, is all this stuff covered? Or only within the initial 21-days?

Well, honestly, it should be covered under warranty. However my 21 days is almost up and I don't want to be stuck with a half-baked system. So its either this gets fixed, or I am out a system for the time being.

I just received a new screen cause of other issues and it doesn't have the Alienhead LED cable or anything else like that.

just got mine today and it's awesome. Yes, looks like I have the same problem with alien head not lit up when sleeping. I'm not going to worry about it because so far I have an otherwise perfect machine with no apparent defects so far. Wouldn't risk sending it back and getting something with more serious problems.

Note: I have a macbook pro with the glowing apple light. When you close the lid, it doesn't stay lit or pulsate either, however, it has small led that pulsates on the chasis.

oh, so when is it supposed to be on? I thought it was supposed to stay on if sleeping and off when computer is actually off.

Set the computer to do nothing when the lid is closed and close the lid while the computer is on. The logo should stay lit up if you have the separate light, it will turn off if you don't.

My LED started working fine as soon as I got the 1080p monitor.

ok, so i set it up to do nothing when lid is closed. the alien head stays lit and so do the edge lights. Is this correct?

What do you mean by edge lights? Are you talking about the speaker grill lights? If so, those lights have nothing to do with it. If your screen is off but the alien logo is on then you have the separate led for the logo.

I had a 900p screen and it lit up just fine, it had an LED. Then I had them replace it with a 1920x1080 (because I had a few bright pixels) and now it doesn't light up at all. Opened it up and sure enough no LED board or anywhere to reflect light from the LCD. The Dell tech they sent out had to specifically order an LED module for the back.
