So I've owned my M17x r3 for over a year and never backed it up. I want to put a second hard drive in, and since the new HDD will be faster than the current one I figured I'd move the OS to the new HDD.

So I open AlienRespawn for the first time and an alien head window pops up in the center of the screen informing me that it is loading. After about 5 minutes of this immovable window sitting in the middle of my screen I decided to search google for options. I decide to download the installer from http://www.alienrespawn.com/en-us/Index.html and see if there is a repair function or something. I run the exe and it says that I already have a newer version installed and to uninstall that before proceeding. At this point the AlienRespawn loading window closes.

I decide to try AlienRespawn one more time. The same loading window appears but this time there is a windows alert sound. I notice that there is a pop-up behind the loading window. However, I could not read the pop-up because someone decided that the AlienRespawn loading screen needed to be centered, immovable, and always on top....

At that point I unistalled AlienRespawn and attempted to install the version I had previously downloaded. Unfortunately, that version was only for windows 8. I figured I had made a mistake, so I went back to the website to download the Windows 7 version. Low and behold there is exactly one link on the entire site and it says simply "Download". No system requirements are listed. There is no information about what to do if your system doesn't meet the unlisted system requirements...nothing.

Luckly there's google. So I find a version of AlienRespawn- Basic on a dell support tutorial, here How to install AlienRespawn? | Dell.
I download it and install without issue. Restart, open the program, begin backing up files to USB. There are are spinning circles, moving bars, and percentages are increasing. Things are looking good, until it hits 75%. The circle is still spinning, but the bar has ceased it's march to the right and the 75% is ever persistent.

I hit the cancel button and it turned from blue to grey, but nothing else happened. I then hit the exit button and, wouldn't you know it, it told me to hit the cancel button. Eventually I ctrl+alt+deleted out of it. However, optimist that I am, I opened it back up to try again. Things were moving mighty quick, right up to that 75% wall where they've been sitting for about the past hour. I don't think it's going to finish...but you never know. At least I don't. Do you?
