I put my computer to sleep everynight. I never had many issues with it, other than the screen not becoming bright a few times. Otherwise, my sound and lights would work fine. Now the alien (loading head) on the keyboard won't turn on, and I have to turn off lighting zones and return on and it works. The sound itself is not recovering and I have to do a restart a few times to get it back. Anyway to fix the sound issues at least? It doesn't seem to be fully stable after sleep anymore sadly.

This is a motherboard issue and a common one at that. You need a replacement. It took two motherboard replacements on my system to get it working perfectly. This is the exact issue I had.

You will likely need a mobo replacement as stated above, try contacting your local support team.

You could always buy a mobo?

Don't exactly have the money. Didn't think it would crap out after a year. However lights seem to be fine. I reinstalled the sound drivers, that issue isn't happening anymore as of yet. However, I still feel my sound sounds a bit off, as the treble is possibly too high even on default, and left speaker is buzzing more than my last.

Just curious. I remember getting stuff fixed a few months ago and they came out a day or two later. What does the standard warranty come with? Basic Next Day onsite? I see it for around 229$. Is that the standard warranty that comes with the laptop the first year? Phone support, replacements for my laptop if I have an issue/repair guy, etc?

Yeah, I got quoted at 600$ for a new mobo from dell.... It costs maybe 250 tax incl to extend warranty for another year, but I think I will just live with it. Maybe Dell will own up to their poor batch of motherboards.

It's not happening to me anymore. I reinstalled my sound drivers (through repair) and it seemed to fix the problem in terms of sound not starting up.

However my speakers are still rattly, and I'm still a bit upset that my front of my computer has a small dent from the repairman, and the back cover over the battery is lifted near the charging port because one of the 3 slide in things to put the cover back on broke. Grrr.
