my alienware 17 face unexpected shut down when battery about 10-12%, after that i start to startup again and is keep shut down again when the alien logo show up, only can start up after i plugged in to charge it, is this normal? there should be left about 10% battery but why i cannot use it?
-
probably because that 10% isn't enough to keep it operating. always use the laptop plugged in.
-
Really? everyone using alienware 17 r1 face the same issue?
-
Yeah I haven't drained my battery all the way down in a while but mine used to shut down at 7 percent remaining battery

If it's not high, then it might be something else, still related to your battery. This isn't a common behavior on all Alienware 17's.mariussx likes this. -

L Porras is correct; the battery needs re-calibration. That is to be expected; the firmware is 'blind', so only afterwards should the battery report the updated, actual wear level (~10%). That is, unless you happened to have reserve level at 0% already and occasionally had it drain completely.

After many times of calibrate and also reinstall windows, the problem still there , mostly will face unexpected shut down at 11%, any solution about this?

Sadly, recalibration is not always implemented correctly. Seems like that's the case with your battery/system. You can circumvent the problem by adjusting the reserve battery levels accordingly:
