    Alienware 17 2013 battery problem

    my alienware 17 face unexpected shut down when battery about 10-12%, after that i start to startup again and is keep shut down again when the alien logo show up, only can start up after i plugged in to charge it, is this normal? there should be left about 10% battery but why i cannot use it?

    probably because that 10% isn't enough to keep it operating. always use the laptop plugged in.

    Really? everyone using alienware 17 r1 face the same issue?

    Yeah I haven't drained my battery all the way down in a while but mine used to shut down at 7 percent remaining battery

    I had the same issue on a phone. It would randomly shut down anywhere between 10% and 15%. This usually happens when the battery's wear level is high and it hasn't been calibrated. The displayed % doesn't reflect the actual % left of power in the machine. Check the battery's wear level and post back here your findings :)

    If it's not high, then it might be something else, still related to your battery. This isn't a common behavior on all Alienware 17's.

    i just run the ePSA and it show my battery health is 99%

    Try checking with HWMonitor. It will show the wear level. Are you running games when the shutdowns happen?

    HWMonitor show my designed capacity is 88800 mWh, and my full charge capacity is 88800mWh too.i just browsing , didn't run any game.

    After many times of calibrate and also reinstall windows, the problem still there , mostly will face unexpected shut down at 11%, any solution about this?

    Sadly, recalibration is not always implemented correctly. Seems like that's the case with your battery/system. You can circumvent the problem by adjusting the reserve battery levels accordingly:
