    Hi Guys,

    Dell released A08 on 6/2/2014.

    Driver Details | Dell US

Once again though it doesn't say what they have/haven't changed.

    Anyone got any ideas?

They stopped giving alienware 17 owners a change log. But I think svl7 at techinfernoe can find the internal change log? But as of late he has refused to do so.

Always update to the latest bios. Is the rule of thumb unless early adopters say there are performance issues.

Never update bios IMO unless compatibility or other noticeable issue. If everything is ok, not worth the minor risk.

Many people here will not agree with that assumption. There have been more then a few people with bricked systems because they are eager to update the bios in their laptops. The general rule is unless your having problems leave the bios alone.

Ive never had a bricked bios from an update, but you are also the one who refuses to overclock your system. So whatever floats your boat. I intend to stay up to date.

Performance problems exist in your vbios, but since you refuse to OC, I imagine you think it is negligible so you would just like to stay on your trusty vbios. Prove me wrong and that you did flash your vbios and solve the throttling. But yes I do assume you don't know what you are talking about when it comes to the performance of a system such as these Alienware 17's. #EndOfRant

Edit* This also applies to your A06 bios that shipped with your machine you questioned if you should update it, afraid of screwing with it. I admire that, but telling me it's better to sit idly back and forget about updates as long as it runs fine is dumb, since some of the time updates equals strides in performance and stability.

I installed the a8 bios on Friday. No issues so far. Granted I did receive the laptop on Friday so I don't know really what it changed or fixed.

Good to hear that, it can take a while for Windows to load after a BIOS update...

Hy guys! I am yusing this bios now for a while, but yesterday all of my backlight turned off in the sudden. I mean the fx lights. When the system starts up, than it came back for a couple of sec, but than they are turning off... Is there a problem somewhere else too?
