    Hi all,

Would anyone with an Alienware 17 be kind enough to take a photo of the backspace, enter key, shift key etc. side of the keyboard in the dark? I have just noticed that there is a dark spot between the enter key and the page down, and enter key/backspace keys where there is no light. Cosmetic I know but just interested to see if it is normal!

Good to know! I used some compressed air earlier to blow out the dust and it seemed to leave liquid or something on the keyboard around that area so thought I might have shorted it. Any idea how to prevent that from happening? I am scared to use it again!

When you use compressed air to clean the keyboard try to keep the top of the can higher than the bottom. Try bending the plastic straw to the area, which need cleaning. If you keep the can upside down, liquid will come with the air. Try to blow the keyboard with shorter bursts of air rather than keep the button pressed for a long time.

I'm just looking at my keyboard here and I don't seem to have the problem It is a bit difficult to tell because it is bright daytime and I am in a lighted office but by cupping my hands around the keyboard I seem to have good illumination in the affected area. I will take a photo tonight when I get home and post it.

It's the light that makes that spot look dead. I fired mine up last night and set the keyboard colour to red and green. The light shows perfectly well during dark hours.

Yes, it's depending on the color. It's the way the leds are set that makes this difference.
