    Hi everybody!

I couldn't find any real comparison between these two mSATA drives, besides reading some reviews from both I find they are quite similar in speed and price.

    http://www.anandtech.com/show/9023/the-samsung-ssd-850-evo-msata-m2-review

    http://www.anandtech.com/show/9258/crucial-mx200-250gb-500gb-1tb-ssd-review

We can say that endurance is a fair component it when comes to compare these two drives. With 150TB for the EVO 850 and 160TB for the MX200.

But besides this comparisons.. which of these would be " cooler" than the other?

I'm kind of worry as this mSATA drive would be "under" my left hand palm rest, on my AW17 R1... all the time.

Any feedback on experience with these two msata ssds, an especially on a Alienware 17 R1 system, would be much appreciated :)

I have the EVO 850 500GB in my M18x, and so far i can't notice any additional heat coming from it.
Thermal sensor is reporting 35-45°C max that i've seen.

I say MX200 all the way. It has MLC NAND and will be far more durable than the TLC junk that is the 850 EVO. Neither drive runs hot.

Just my personal opinion, I'd take Samsung product over it's Crucial counterpart every single time, i've just been dissapointed by Crucial products in the past and i can't reccomend them at all.

The Crucial also costs 20$ more and only offers 3 Y warranty while Samsung has 5 Y warranty. No thanks :)

I did say that's my personal opinion... and since you made such a bold statement, care to back it up with proof? ;)

Yeah. It's called the 840 EVO.

OP, I can't tell you how many SSDs I've used. For the price/performance value and very good reliability, only Crucial/Micron is the best. All out performance belongs to Sandisk Extreme pro. Reliability/Consistency king goes to Intel 730 and 750. Samsung is overpriced and has had some questionable products in the past, I wouldn't recommend them to anybody at all.

I have owned Crucial M4, MX100, M500, M550, M600, and MX200 in various configs. My personal favorite is M600, as it is the best combination of price, performance, and reliability.

    What's wrong with 840 EVO?

I completely agree when it comes to Sandisk, best flash memory products all around IMO.
I have/owned a handful of Sandisk products and all perform up to their name, and i've yet to see one fail.

I'll check what SSD it was that i had from Crucial, should still have the box around, but i know that the write performance was awfull.

What's wrong with the 840 Evo? I've upgraded my AW17 to the Evo as soon as I bought it and haven't had a single issue with it. It's blazing fast and I am extremely satisfied with it...
