I've upgraded mine to a Dell 980m last year, bought via Ebay, worked smoothly with the 60Hz screen on my Ranger, using Windows 10, UEFI. Nvidia drivers are officially supported since more than a year ago, so you wont need modding, unless you're planning to use older drivers (prior to version 390.xx).

So are you suggesting that 980m is plug and play and no need for inf modding

Yup, it is, no inf modding at all on my rig, provided you get the same Dell version 980m..

Decided not to update further as previously i noted a marginal drop in performance with drivers after 399.xx. Its my personal decision, not really a proven thing, so feel free to try later drivers if it works for you.

Latest I've tried is up till driver version 410.xx, without driver modding. Beyond that I'm not sure, but if you really do have to mod, then please do so and refer to the various guides for driver modding in the forum. Optimus mode refers to switchable graphics (SG) mode, which is available to Alienware Ranger with the 60Hz screen, whereby your system will alternate between your internal graphics (for 'light' activities - e.g internet browsing, watching videos, etc) and your dedicated graphics (for 'heavy' activities - e.g. gaming, animation designing, etc). On the other hand, Alienware Ranger with the 120Hz screen will be in PCI Express graphics (PEG) mode, whereby your system will use your dedicated graphics for all activities (no switching).

Where did you purchase your 980m? Is it new or second hand? Furthermore with the drivers installed as above (frm your pic), did you try running a benchmark? (e.g Heaven, 3dmark, etc)?

The picture u referenced to me, is it flashed with my 980m vBios? If so, do you have the original vBios of your 980m (backup)?
