Hey guys, i have been facing issues with my gtx 980m. So the problem as soon as i boot into the windows if my fan is without the pwm wires connected (pwm bypass) it would work fine in most games requiring 30-40% usage. However, if i switch to games Like RDR2 requiring 99% usage it will crash within minutes and pc would freeze. I am kinda lost here what's the issue where it is coming from I have tried different vbios Power limit is not a issue here and weirdly if i close the games after playing it would start freezing the pc. The laptop gets very unresponsive after closing of games.i have attached a picture in which you can see these are wet every time i remove heatsink i wonder what is it.

that "wet" residue comes from the thermal pads

You are running your 980m without thermal pads ? Thats a good way to kill it...

as a last ditch effort I would run hwinfo64 and have it log everything to a file so you can see the limit reasons

Hello. I have a similar problem. Updated 780 to 980. The problem is that the video card fan is not working. The fan starts only on the BIOS page if the GPU has been running for some time before. You can't hear it on Windows. Works on passive GPU cooling without any problems (GPU load 0-40%). After overcoming the temperature of 75-80 C (GPU load more than 40%), the laptop simply turns off.
Do i need another vBios? can anyone share? or the cards from the sellers are defective

    What is your vbios?
For how long has it been “working” like that?

My gpu is gone i guess it's detected in bios but on gpu z it doesn't show vbios version and other information.
I am getting driver error 43
And if i try to flash vbios nvflash shows failed to detect gpu and when i switch to 980m only fn+f5 i am getting 8 beeps.

    I was asking mr Minion
Baqir, what was the wattage used on 980 when it was working?
Idownloaded thatvbios of yours but never implemented it, mine goes @80 w and i decided its good enough for me
I know it can/should do 100but comparing to previous gpu r9ati its good enough

Found out what was the matter. One of the chokes was not properly soldered. I fixed it and it worked. You need to be careful when buying a "new" graphics card from a ebay.
If the gpuz detects hynix memory, but in reality there is samsung, this can be a problem?
