Hey guys long time no see,
I recently just bought my Alienware 17 R3 and i am having an issue with setting.. I can not seem to disable integrated graphics or get all the option in nvidia control panel. I have installed the latest drivers for my 980m and the latest bios are installed. Is this laptop just too new or no one has figured it out ? I have tried to google for hours and all i find is the Alienware M17xR3, which i also own but that one works great..

PS i was told my screen was 120hz is this true ?

    My Rig :

There's no 120hz screen available for this series of laptops. You could try on TechInferno. As of today, I haven't seen any unlocked BIOSs

There will never be an unlocked BIOS for anything made after the M14x R2/M17x R4/M18x R2 thanks to SecureFlash and Dell requiring signed BIOS files. The Alienware 17 R1, R2, and R3 all require SecureFlash and signed BIOS files so there will be no unlocked BIOS. We have no problem modifying the BIOS files, but there is no way to flash them back without having a hardware flasher, which 99.9% of people do not have.

Of course that could always change if somebody passed this up to Dell's engineers to remove the SecureFlash lock they currently have on all recent Alienware laptops.

Hmm "every lock has its key" however because people believe there is no way, i guess no ones even trying ?

So there is NO WAY to disable integrated graphics?

Yeah YOU go ahead and try cracking SecureFlash. Not only is cracking the signing key ridiculously difficult, but I'm pretty sure MS and all the other OEMs would come down on you pretty hard. You have an M17x R3. There was NEVER a lock on the BIOS! It was just a hidden menu that we unhid, it wasn't LOCKED.

So to answer your question, no, there is no way to disable integrated graphics.

Isn't disabling IGPU impossible in later models? AFAIK in later models display is tied to iGPU, never to the NVIDIA GPU as in older models.

Well i believe someone will crack that SecureFlash they said the same thing about flashing your phones... and apple said they were unhackable and well..Every lock has its key, however if i cant have a standalone videocard anymore... this will be the last alienware i buy. :[

You can't even without secure flash. Display is hardware tied to internal GPU. In older models there's a switch that allows nvidia gpu to be directly connected with display and output. There is no way to do that i newer models. You also have kind of lag because iGPU only shows the display but PEG renders it.
