    Hi there everyone, i'm thinking of buying the Alienware 17 R4, the one with the i7-7820HK and the GTX 1080, but scared to buy it incase it's too hot or throttles as i've read reviews and they said it's really hot, have Alienware fixed the heat issue, i've emailed DELL asking them if it's possible to put good thermal paste before i buy, should i buy the AW 17 R4?
    Plz let me know as i'm planning on buying iy soon

    It gets hot that's normal just don't over stress it.. If you're comfortable with disassembling the machine, you can apply the thermal paste no worries but don't do it on a brand new machine, just give it a couple of years and re-apply it.

    I do not think Dell would appreciate that we dismantle a new PC that is guaranteed to risk losing the one
    it's just my opinion

    well how good is the cooling and thermal of newer versions of the AW 17 R4? are they better and have dell fixed the heat/thermal issues?

    Don't count on it and a lot of techs may as well be slapping together Yugo 45s at this point when asked to repaste a system like this and you may as well ask how good is the warranty should you do it yourself. One of many reasons why so many people here just stick with older machines.

    I'm thinking about selling mine if you're interested . Liquid metal repasted by iunlock and fixed up pch and such to make it run cool. 85c max on 4.4ghz
