Hi, I am trying to do the sleep bug correctly, but I always get the same errors you have…
I try closing and opening the screen panel and also with the sleeping menu, wait a litte or longer
and still with the same errors…
I am actually with a stock A14 bios (with a 4940mx cpu, and 1060 gpu)
could you please tell me "how to do the right sleep bug" ?

from my experience you just close the Lid and open it again after the laptop is completely put to sleep then open the lid again and you are good to go.

Hi there, sorry for the delay
Thanks for answering but too bad : it still doesn't work for me

Looking in the graphic drivers I found I just have the Nvidia GPU and no Intel Driver GPU…
    Maybe that's the reason?!

From the BIOS disable these if they are enabled - Fast Boot (Windows 8/8.1 and 10), and if Secure Boot is ON disable that as well. Then from the Windows OS disable the hiberfile.sys (this removes the option of Hibernation) and then give it a shot. Also which OS are you using ? Windows 8.1 here worked perfect.

The reason you only see Nvidia GPU is due to your Alienware is running on PEG mode which is PCIe GFX mode, a.k.a the Nvidia/AMD GPU only and not Intel iGPU from CPU.

Hi Ashtrix, sorry for the delay for you too
    Thanks for answering
I did all you said above but it still doesn't work for me…

Also in original A14 bios I have access to the OC Level 1 for my 4940XM, then I have the choice between BIOS, cTDP but it's not working either…

Probably you can try that, do an NVRAM reset follow from the first page second post ( NVRAM step by step reset) on how to do that on this machine. You can also use Jumper pin contact method as well to do that, either of it should do the trick.

Then remove all that Fastboot, Hiberfile.sys disabling, make sure you are following the instructions from the first page.

    Code:
    flashing:

    use the Sleep Bug !
Unpack the archive and copy the into C: HD root place !
Then open Comand Promt with Admin Rights (CLI window C:\), put your laptop
into Sleep Mode and then Wake-Up It, atger this execute these comands from
    CLI window :

    fptw64 -f bios.bin -bios

What's the latest version of the bios that can be unlocked . I'm in the most recent Dell bios and I'm having an odd issue . I have a 4930mx . When I try and select of lvl 1 the system throttles the cpu and won't let it turbo it is shown at 2.1 GHz and cpuz shows only 2.990 GHz no matter what I try it still shows that shd the system is utterly sluggish . It's not even getting hot.

Further more no matter even if I edit the settings manually the cpu down clocks

A14 is the best version and only version to use, later sBIOS have Spectre and Meltdown fixes which will kill off Haswell IPC hard and ruin the CPU. And do not use BIOS OC modes, get Throttlestop and undervolt the CPU, Haswell mobile is overvolted out of factory a lot. And then check for warnings in Throttlestop and overlclock it from there. Some people used thermal pads on the VRM heatsink area for CPU to address VRM throttling but it might ruin the heatsink pressure so it's not a mandatory thing. Some folks used Liquid Metal with foam barrier dams to get the maximum heat transfer from the die to heatsink.

Well, perhaps you tell us why would you need one.
I got through having unlocked bios coz I ordered an i7 4930mx which turned out to be a dud,not working.
So now I have bios unlocked but never ever used any of the features.
I cant tell anything more than whats already written here before.

This is plainly false. Install the driver to enable those functions and you effectively and factually achieve the same thing, switching from PEG and SG mode never and still do not require an unlocked BIOS.

Since I was summoned back into this thread, would anyone be kind to upload any kind of unlocked BIOS direct EEPROM dump with default settings?I'm already a year into having my beloved Ranger bricked, and second Ranger (also bricked because it had A17 in it, which was locked and not retrograde able)... HALP. Many kudos to anyone who is able to help in my predicament. To recap, first Ranger was bricked while trying to refit it I to PEG without any sort of an older card, I've read the bios and edited values to set it to PEG and it didn't work, second Ranger worked fine on the newest bios that wasn't unlocked, while ripping into it with EEPROM flasher it went for multiple beeps and stayed there. All I need is PEG/UEFi enabled BIOS to run 1070 on it on 120Hz screen...

You need the Alienware OSD driver to allow the GFX switch to work.

Unfortunate to hear that, Did you check Update 4 in the OP #2 ? It's about a bad flash I'm not expert in that recovering flashes or using hardware flasher, I do not even have one since this is the only PC I have cannot afford much to experiment on it. Unfortunately you might need a Kepler card, a spare one. Because with Legacy boot+120Hz on Maxwell and Pascal = 8 Beep.
