Anyone got any suggestions for keeping my system cooler.

I'm running a brand new system with some personal upgrades

    I'm running:
    i7 4910
    32 gigs ddr3 ram at 1600mhz
    8 gig geforce 880m (according to hwinfo64 this is a 4gig card)
    240 gig ssd
    750 gig storage drive
    bios version a14

GPU is running in the low to mid 80s temp-wise on world of warcraft on high settings this shouldn't even push the card. fan ramps up but not until high temps. I'm trying to keep the video card in the low 70s max
cpu is ranging at 60-76 degrees C in my opinion the fans kick in later than they should. starting to turn on at 70 is to late in my book it should rev up in the low 50s.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm trying to bring my overall temps down. if I need an after market fan for this thing as i've read online someone direct me to a link please.

I was reading that the cpu fan tops out at 4600 rpm but the gpu fan tops out at 3400 rpm any way to set it them to start when the cpu hits 55 degrees c and the gpu at 60 degrees c :(

I had same problem as u but in reverse. My cpu was running between 80 to 85 during gaming. My gpu was a 770m stock so temps were pretty good on that no problems there.
I ordered some ic diamond as suggested from others here in the forum. I repaste my cpu and problems were solved. The stock paste that dell put on my cpu was horrible and had an air pocket right in the middle of the die. Long story short a simple repaste fixed my problems.
I suggest repasting first and then go from there. If paste job is bad everything else you do to try to cool the chip down isn't going to help to much.

As far as your 880m they seam to run on the warm side to begin with.

As far as your fans you can use hwinfo to control the fans speeds manually .

Shipping shows Tuesday by end of day. The messed up part is I have to go out of town Tuesday morning at 6:00 for work until friday. How ironic is that.

I got my 780m running about 73c with current overclock. 900mhz total on core and +250 on memory. That's seams about as far as I can go with my 2 pipe heatsink before temps start to runaway on me. I know it will run 1000mhz core and + 400 memory stable no problem but temps are 82-85c. That's a little warm for my liking. But the performance at those clocks is like sooooooooo great.

    Come on 3pipe heatsink

I don't think there would be a problem running your fans at full speed. Lots of guys here do it all the time. Your fans are actually made to go faster than what you can run them at. When you flash your bios you will notice your fans run faster than they do on normal operation. You can thank dell for that.
maybe some others with a little more knowledge about the fans in our systems can spread a little more light on the subject. I'm still learning a lot of this stuff too.

most people have upped it too around 1009/6000 or +159 / +500 and it is very stable. this is mostly a "safe" or "common" OC. though i would only do this once the 3-pipe heatsink arrives.

I played around with mine a little trying to figure out how far I could go. I didn't try past 1000 on core as it seems good right there and wasn't really interested in going past that for now. As far a memory I guess I'm not as lucky as everyone else. With everything else at stock the farthest I could get my memory was around +400mhz before I started to see slight artifacts in Unheavan bench. I don't have anything on my VRAM on the back of my card though either . I don't really know if that would make a difference or not. I'm guessing not couse the card would just get hotter but should still be stable.

try it with the new heatsink when it arrives and if you still see artefacts with the vram at +500 then just bump it back down - no biggie.

    Hey masterlink2002.
You might also try propping back of your computer up with something. Out of curiosity I grabbed two erasers from my little girls backpack and stuck them under the back two legs of my laptop and it dropped my overall temps by 2 degrees. I know it's not much but hey every little bit helps.

    1= good paste job
2= prop up back up laptop . Don't need much.
3= use hwinfo to control fans to your liking

And I think you will see a good improvement in temps.

You could even go a step farther a buy a cooling pad for under your laptop.

2 degrees reduction can be the difference between having a maximum clock frequency of the processor or throttling in benchmark tests (Xtu bench or Wprime 1024) ... Any reduction of temperature is important even if it is small. :D
