    Hi guys,
I got my current Alienware 17 system on October,2013.Due to some errors,i had to reset the raids, and erase all 3 drives, including the ssd. Now.Now,the system is running ok with raid 0 and ssd,but the built-in webcam is not being detected. It is not even in the device manager.
I have run the diagnostic mode, and it shows no errors (except one about HDD-error 2000:0142,which i am ignoring currently).Skype, dell webcam central etc is not detecting the webcam either. Please help :-(

Try to press FN + F9 on the keyboard and see if it gets enabled

Did it work prior to the work you described? Have you used it prior to this? It sounds like it is not connected...it is possible that the cable has come unseated and may need to be fixed. Easiest way to check would be to power off the machine, drain it of power by removing the battery and then pressing and holding the power button and then peel the bezel off the check the cable. To the best of my knowledge there is no driver required, I have never needed one.

    This is for HDMI in?

There is no driver for the camera from Dell. Download camera driver from win update. It works at least in Win 8.1.

I've never had any driver installed here for my Alienware's camera in windows 7/8.1... Make sure Fn+F9 doesn't disable your camera and you'll be fine.. I was having a similar issue where my camera just wouldn't work and needed to press the key combination for it to work..

YeahI have been using this since October 2013.

The problem started after one of my RAID 0 drives failed last week.So i reset the 2HDD and the SSD to non- RAID.After windows setup, webcam is not working. So,i tried the official guide for disassembling and checking the webcam, but got stuck on disassembling the display...I might try what you said later.Right now, with one new HDD in the mix,my HDMI in key and integrated graphics are also not working. Not sure if related or not.

Alos, there are no tabs on device manager for imaging device.
