My current Nvidia driver is 337.88 and I would like to install 327.23 instead of it but I'm unsure how.
I tried uninstalling the drivers and then install the new one, but that kept failing.
Would anybody be able to help me with this?
-
The GTX 880m does not support the 327.23 driver. The earliest it supports is the 337.50.
The GTX 780m, thoughm, supports the 327.23 driver. -
I know that, but I seen in other threads where people had managed to do it and I couldn't figure out how!!

I'm a newb when it comes to this type of stuff so sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Why do you want to install that driver in particular?
-
The graphics card hasn't been reaching its potential, and I read that using the 780m driver will make it perform more. I managed to install 327.23. but there hasn't been any difference so far.

There is always more potential in a chip than stock, that's what overclocking and tweaking is for
-
True
But I was comparing my frames in game compared to my friends stock 770m, he gets close to 40 frames more than my 880m.
I was just generally puzzled by it and wanted to see if I could achieve the same frames. -

Have you looked at temperatures, frequencies and load levels for the gpu and cpu?
-
Honestly I have no idea what that means, how would I go about doing that?
-
All the graphical settings for the games you are comparing are set exactly the same on both computers right. Just checking because that's a crazy difference.
-
Yes we checked because we were both amazed! He never touched any overclock settings or anything like that

If you look around here on notebook review try searching for afterburner and hwinfo. They are two programs you can install in your laptop. Pretty easy to install and you can use them during your games to tell you what's going on with your gpu and cpu. That will help you probably more than anything in finding out what is going on with your system. Once you have those programs up and running everyone here will be able to help you figure out what's going on. Hope this helps some towards your quest in finding out what's going on.

Thanks for the help

GPU-Z (sensors tab) and intel XTU are good for information too.
-
XTU is a pile of for me.. it hasn't displayed my CPU Frequency properly for months.. Its always showing 0GHz and sometimes magically after my computer spends some time sleeping it shows the proper frequency but this isn't garunteed...
-
maybe you can use 3dmark 11 and check the gpu score? and compare with your friend score.
I don't know if overcloking 880m will be stable for long gaming session. We have to ask someone who have OC 880m and gaming with it. -
Sounds like your card is throttling. The 880m does not seem to perform 'out of the box' like it should. The vbios needs flashing to the modded one.

I wonder if you have a slightly corrupt bios since it does fetch details from there. -
Highly doubt that... I think its a Windows update problem.. Quite a few people have been having it.. BTW, HWinfo has no issues reading CPU speed... It's just XTU... This program really pisses me off sometimes...
