Got my Alienware 17 yesterday (Haswell + GTX880M) and apparently it has bluetooth 4.0,
but how do I turn it on?

It's enabled in the bios but Windows does not show any bluetooth adapters.
I tried reinstalling intel wireless drivers with bluetooth but that didn't help.

Which wifi card do you have: Intel or Killer? Did you fresh install the OS onto SSD or just got the laptop delivered and did not install anything yourself?

It is a Intel Dual-band Wireless-AC 7260. It does not show up in both, recovery install and fresh install. I didn't even had it after I unboxed the laptop.

driver won't help since there isn't even a BT device showing up in device manager.

I booted up Ubuntu Live and there is no bluetooth adapter either.
"rfkill list" doesn't show a bluetooth device, only wifi.

Well, with all of the issues that people are having, I suggest switching adapters. Go on Amazon and buy one for like $50.

Broadcom 4352 works fine in the AW 17. I have this one in my system and I've had no issues with it thus far.

That one should work as well. Let us know how it goes. Remember to install all necessary drivers and whatnot.

Let us know how it goes after the change. We could be able to help if something else arises.

Brother Porras, will a Intel 7260ac work in the AW17x R4? Will there be any issues? Also how hard is to replace the wireless card in this?

That card will work fine in the R4 as they are the same slot type. As for ease to change it is not the easiest if your not to savy with a tear down on the laptop. With the R4 the wireless card is under the keyboard so you have to remove quite a few screws and the keyboard bezel to get at the wireless card.

Well that's not going ahead anyways.. Looks like the 7260ac card I won from the LPC giveaway is lost in the post... Anyways, I doubt I have the balls to strip the 17x that much...
