    Hey folks,

Just received this today and trying to decide if I am going to keep or return for a different specced one. Here is what I got:

Intel Quad Core i7- 4930MX "Haswell Bridge 4th-Gen i7" Edition Processor

    (8MB Cache | 4.0GHz Turbo Mode / 3.0GHz non turbo mode)

    16GB DDR3 RAM 4 DIMMS @ 1600mhz

Dual 256GB SSD Total of 512GB SSD (RAID 0 Configured)

17.3" Widescreen FULL High Definition WLED (1920x1080p)

    Nvidia GeForce GTX 780M 4GB

    DVD/RW CD/RW Combo Drive

    Webcam/Bluetooth

    AlienFX Illuminated Keyboard | Broadcom 4352 802.11 ac 2x2 and Bluetooth 4.0

    8 Cell Battery & 240 watt Charger

    Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

trying to decide if I should return for one with these changes:

    downgrade 4930MX to 4900
256GB mSata and 1TB 7200 drive instead of the 2 256GB drives in RAID 0
120hz display w/ 3d bundle instead of the anti glare

or should I just keep this, be happy that I have top of the line CPU, not worry about the screen and bite the bullet and take it apart and put the SSD in?

I really don't want to have to take it apart just to get to the SSD slot under the computer and from what I have read, the 120hz display is much nicer that the HD anti glare one.

Ok, Alienware owners and testers, let know, do I return or crack this puppy open when I get home??

The cpu is personal choice, if you think you don't need that much power and moving to a lower config gives you better budget go for it.
I never got the SSD's from Alienware since i have access to cheaper brand new ones via my job, so i did the setup myself. Plus that gives me immense pleasure to set it up.
If i were you i would return it for the 120Hz screen. I definately would ! Rest is your opinion.

You should return it and get the 4900MQ + 120Hz screen.

Ditto the other replies, you shouldn't notice any difference with the lower CPU and the 120hz display (and the 3D) are awesome.

Run it up as you have a few days to return it for another one - you'll have to go through all the new order process after you get your money back. Be aware that legally in most regions they can charge a 'restocking fee' up to 10% for a no fault return... think about it ;)

Edit: your data will be a lot safer with the HDD/SSD cache combo than an SSD RAID and the speed difference will not be noticeable in use - only benchmarks :)

Thanks for the replies folks. Luckily I bought from a seller who has no restocking fee, just have to cover shipping both ways. I am going to return and get a 4900MQ with 256GB mSata under the keyboard so I don't have to hassle with putting that in, 1TB in secondary, 780M, 120hz 3D, 16GB ram.

    Appreciate the help!!

Cool, check it out carefully anyway, it would be nice to hear your comparison on the display!

Exact build I went for before deciding it was just not enough of a 'looker' to replace my R4

That's the part I was concerned about. Most sellers have that. Let us know how everything goes.
