Just had a quick question before purchasing an external monitor, would there be any extra lag other than the 1ms response time? Please help me understand what all of this means if possible :)

Well it also depends on the ms from the monitor. I use an external monitor and there's really no issue with it.

I also use an external monitor (via HDMI) without any issue.

I'm using a 24" HP LP2475W using HDMI and no problems for me!

Had no issues on my AW17.
I've connected it to even HD TVs and found no lag at all.
