    Hi just bought a 17 r1 from UK, eBay got the 1400×900 screen, to upgrade the screen to 1080p whould I need a 40 pin or 30 pin connector thanks ..

    Thanks for the info .but I'll just go with 1080p don't want to mess around looking for a new cable ..so it's a 40pin I'm after ...

    You are welcome mate. Also, I believe I have a 40 pin LVDS cable in its original packaging bought it from DELL a while ago bit didn't use it cuz I went for 120 HZ screen so had to buy another edp cable.

    If you need one at anytime, I can look for it.

    I don't believe the 17R1 ever had a glossy screen. @Ashtrix have you seen an R1 with a glossy 60HZ screen?

    Afaik, the 120Hz only exists with glossy screen no 60Hz. Plus I'd suggest OP to upgrade to the 120Hz panel rather than going for 60Hz panel, because in future 120Hz is the only way forward, Pascal support Plus Optimus sucks, and optimus doesn't work with Maxwell either.

    You need just edp cable and screen :D

    I have that screen and believe me, that is one upgrade you will never regret.
