Hi, my alienware 17 motherboard is dead. I'm searching for a new one but all I can find is refurbished/used. Can you give me some advise? Do you know when I can get a new one?

Ebay, But If you prefer the assurance then go for Dell, call them or chat with them and order one.

You will most likely not get a new one at all. I am pretty certain that the mainboard for your laptop is no longer manufactured due to the age. Tech ages really fast and if the laptop is not for sale, chances are all the replacement mainboards are refurbished. There is nothing wrong with refurbished boards, you just have to check everything to make sure the mainboard works as it should.
