does any body know if there is a difference between different models and there sata interposers ?
I ask because I didn't get a secondary interposer for my Alienware 17 and I am after installing another drive, so I need to know if I can use any dell interposer or a specific one.
shame on cost cutting dell ! :mad2:

It should have come with all the parts. There are no cables. They're little pieces of plastic that snap into place. You may have overlooked them.

What system do you have? The Alienware 17 or M17x R4?

Why did you mention the older models?

The new Alienware 17 has different SATA connectors than all of the older models. It's a black piece of plastic that snaps into the SATA port. All Alienware 17's come with them.

as I said in a early post, whilst I was looking on ebay trying to find a interposer they mention the interposers are different from R1/2 & R3/4. and not knowing if there was any difference between models or if the interposers were all the same or not.

eitherway without the correct interposer for the new model 17's im stuck till I can get hold of dell and get one or ebay has the correct one.
shame really as I have a couple of spare latitude models I don't use and could of simply used one of them...

Are you sure you didn't overlook them? I've had four Alienware 17's and they've all come with the connectors.

If it's not there, call Alienware Technical Support and ask them to send you one. It shouldn't be an issue.

just a heads up so to speak, contacted dell and ordered the missing interposer.
its the same interposer as in the Alienware m17x r3/r4 models.
    same part number...
anyways they wanted £29.50 for the part, but after telling them what they can do with that price tag they dropped it to £10.25 inc vat/del..

For the R2 it is in there to.
For me it was taped to the inside of the metal caddy.

I think the normal is that the interposer is inside.
