    good afternoon everybody,

I have purchased my 4th alienware 17 and it arrived today (kids seem to have expensive habits like I do) but im getting strange freezing when the fan kicks in ?

I have check the temps for both the cpu and gpu and there are ok:
    cpu 4710 = 56ish
    gpu 860 47ish

I have disabled the NVidia 860 and run purely the cpu and igpu and it still happens, I have ran the diagnostic text from post (f12) and everything passes. I have also ran the alienware PCcheck and it passes there also.
memtest also passes so its not a memory issue causing it.
I have reset the system back to factory defaults twice now and still have same freezing when the fan kicks in.
i have done two fresh installs and again it still happens.
I have disabled turbo boost to see if that was causing any issues, and again it still happens....

DOES anybody have any idea's what could be causing the problem ?

It's either a driver level conflict or the EC acting up. Updating the bios to the latest version may help.

When it happens? I started experiencig such thing just after reboot, it is caused by the new crappy Dell Assist software replacing AlienAutopsy, which was published yesterday.
What happens to me is fans going loud for a few seconds when everything freezes, including mouse pointer.

I was just popping onto the site to post a fix, and the fix is DONT update alien autopsy to the newer version now called PC CheckUP !
that is the cause of the issue.

This worked, I am in the process of spreading it to the far corners of the internet.

    Thank you for this.
