    Both are similar price.

    Alienware m17 -
    17.3"
    i7 4700
    16gb ram
    gtx 770M
    750GB 7200rpm drive
    1080p TN panel

    MSI GT Series GT60 2OD-261US -
    15.6"
    i7 4700
    16gb ram
    gtx 780M
    2880x1620 IPS panel

Now I love having nice screens and I'm really tempted. However, I LOVE the build quality of Alienware. It's completely well made, sturdy, great airflow, and nice design. I've owned an MSI GT60 in the past and it's build quality leaves a lot to be desired. Very plastic-y.

What would you guys go for and why? Is the sacrifice of the GTX 780M and 2880x1620 IPS 3K display worth the build quality and design?

I don't mind the 17.3 vs 15.6. However, would cooling be better in the Alienware therefore last longer?

    Interested in hearing opinions, thanks!

It's really up to you, I've owned plenty of MSI gaming laptops as well are barebones. I think for the price, MSI cannot be beat. Alienware you are paying for the support and build quality (use of metal in the chassis, not plastic, sturdy feel, at least that's how my R2 was). Spec wise, the MSI wipes the floor, but it's really up to you to pick. Personally size matters for me, so I'd buy the Alienware just because I can't stand 15.6" laptops anymore for my primary machine.

I believe the same as Tsunada_Hime, it is a personal choice. If you feel like support and build quality are more important than the screen then pull the trigger ;)
