does anyone play titanfall on there laptop ?
just finished playing for over 2hrs with friends online and my gpu temps were hitting 97c !!!
throttled something terrible. the system only a couple of months old and its only been last couple of weeks I've started to play games on it.
is this normal temps for this card and game ?
everything within game running at max at 1080p res.

Your GPU was hitting 97C? Damn. There must not be any paste on that GPU. You need to open it up and look.

GPU's should operate between 70C and 85C while under full load.

both fan and heatsink are dust free, there plenty of pressure on the gpu die, thermal pads seem fine, everything should be running cool.
have applied new mx4 paste will run heaven benchmark and keep a close eye on temps. will report back my findings

well I let the card cool down and ran a game for 30mins, kept checking temps and they hit 97c before black screening on me..
now when I try and play a game it shorty after black screens at which point I cannot check the temps and need to shut it down and let it cool off.
I think the card mite be damaged due to crazy heat :(

So after repasting the gpu still hits 97 degrees? If yes, check if the thermal paste cover all the gpu and try diffrent pastes.

repaste isn't the problem, the die is fully covered and the heatsink applys enough pressure to the die/memory.
before this started to happen temps never went over 70c actually I don't think they went over 50c as I never gamed on it till recently.
the only change I have done to the system was up date the bios to A13. but no other is having problems with it so its not that. something is wrong.jpg
top right hand side of the laptop is blooming roasting as you would expect if it was a gpu heat issue so its not a faulty reading from hwmonitor.
its actually so hot I cannot keep my fingers there for long.
I will just ring dell and get them to sorted it, after all that's what warrenty is for.

You can't remove the GPU and not re-paste it. That causes bubbles to form. If you remove the GPU, you need to re-paste, no matter what.

And just because the die appears to be covered, doesn't mean the paste is holding up.

If there is no dust, the paste is good, heatsink good, fans are working good...why doesnt it cool the gpu? Something from this things isnt right

Maybe he's confusing the CPU with the GPU. It wouldn't be the first time I've seen someone do this.

His system sounds like it's fine, unless he's not reporting all of the details.

everything is reported correctly. I have not do any mods at all neither, I do know the difference between a blooming cpu and gpu thankyou :p
and I don't understand why the temps have all of a sudden hit the roof.
it simply shouldn't be happening. just doesn't make sense

The maximum temperature for GPU's is 95C, at which point it should shutdown/throttle down heavily. You are reaching 97C and the PC is still on at this point?

Maybe the thermal pads aren't the right size or aren't on the correct spots?

i have simply decided come Monday give dell a ring and let them sort it.
as for J.Dre the system doesn't shutdown at all, the gpu gives me a black screen when temps go crazy and it does throttle the card. the card does drop the core/mem to 405mhz/200mhz or something like that.
but as i have just said, i will simply leave it to dell to sort out. as it simply doesn't make sense to what is happening.
