    Guys,

I need your help as I am unsure if this is a genuine fault.

My Alienware start behaving weird by switching screen resolution to 1024x768 after restarts or screen won't turn-on once was dim after few minutes.

Now in games/3D benchmarks my laptop is suddenly turning off (immediate shut down) while CPU & GPU temperatures are around CPU - 70C & GPU - max 70.

Both heatsinks cleaned, laptop is placed onto Cooler Master pad with 3 fans.
Even the GPU was repasted as I run out of any idea.

Using HW Info I have noticed that PCH temperature (I believe this is the chipset on the motherboard) just after recovery from crash is 95C. However with additional testing I have found that any 3D application is causing system to shut down while PCH temperature at that point is around 75C, GPU is running at 70C & CPU is cool.

My assumption is that the GPU is somehow faulty where it started behave weird by changing resolution to 1024x768, won't turn on from dim mode, and now causing system to immediate shut down while in 3D mode from few second to few minutes.

Tested with 3dmark 2011, GTA V and World of Tanks - same issue persist.

    CPU: 4710
    GPU 880m
    24GB Ram
    SSD 256 Samsung

    Thanks in advance,

    Andy

put your system in intel mode with fn+f5 and test 3dmark 2011. if it's working it will be an issue with your gpu. if it still doesnt work, can be an issue from the system.

I have version with 120HZ screen and there is no integrated GPU to do this test.

Have you tried a complete removal of the Nvidia drivers and then reinstall? The temps seem ok on the CPU/GPU but that chipset temp seems way to high....If the driver reinstall does not help I really wouldn't know where to go....You could try a fresh copy of windows but that might be extreme.

I will check my temp on the chipset while running 3D and get back to you.

Edit: Watched a 3d movie for about 10-15 minutes and the warmest anything got was 51. Which sensor are you looking at that is coming up at 90? I don't see a sensor for the chipset.
