    Hello!
I really want to do something with my Alienware, it don't run Battlefield 4 and Titanfall very well at all... it sucks.
I'm not 100% sure whats the problem, but I think its my GPU?

    My Alienware:
    CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20GHz
    RAM: 8 gigs
    OS: Windows 8
    GPU: GeForce GTX 560M
    Disk: 700 GB

I can run Battlefield 4 on LOW, but its sometimes I get lag spikes.

Do you guys see anything else than my GPU?
I've been thinking to buy this: MSI GT60 VGA Upgrade Kit NVIDIA GTX 680M 4GB DDR5 MXM 3 0B | eBay
However, I'm not sure if it will be right for my Alienware, I'm not a computer guy..

    Thanks for help!

Edit: Just saw that is for MSI -.-
How good will this card run?

I could not even run Battlefield 3 on high when I got it, it runs around 20 fps lol.
    I think its the GPU

Just did a fast Battlefield 4 run test on CanIrunit, and it says my GPU is not recommended.
Everything else is okey, but my system is not even at recommended specs because of the GPU

560M is like a 2.5-3 year old card, and it was mid range when it came out. I believe the 680M works, but the 3D will not work as it is not officially supported in the R3. I don't think the 780M works.

Hey OP, if you're interested I have a 7970m + heatsink for sale. I can sell it to you at 400 + your GTX 560M + the Heatsnik there. If you're in the US I can also offer you free shipping. The 7970m is just as good as a GTX 680M and I am presently using it my system which is an R4 so If my memory serves me right it will be a drop in replacement. the R4 and the R3 heatsinks are the same. I have already sold some stuff on NBR here so if you're looking for some references I would be glad to oblige

Posts like this are not usually acceptable. Please try and pm the intended recipient. But in regards hopefully the OP will be interested :). Also OP your system is not the "Alienware 17x3" the Alienware 17 is the first gen of the new model. Your model is the 3rd revision of the M17x Series. Alienware M17x R3.

I don't care about 3D really, never got it to work anyway lol

I'll pm you later after I have done research, if I'm interested

Anyway Dell just told me to call their support to hear prices and what upgrades I can get, if I buy from them they will also come home to me and replace it for me so I don't avoid warranty..
I'll hear their pricres, but I fear that Dell is overpriced..

Apologies for that Hackintosh but for some reason I wasn't being able to Pm him. Will try some other way another time. And yes from what it looks like he definately has the R3 as only that one has the sandy bridge processors

    Yeah don't spend 1000 on a 580M, that's ridiculous. Also 580M have such a high failure rate, I wouldn't touch that card with a 10000 ft pole.

    Okey thanks!
What do you think about the GTX 680m? The one I linked?
This is from BF4 beta with the card: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5md4og3ueE

The Card you have should be capable of Running BF 4 . Have tried to install newer drivers for the card . Try it a different Resolutions but I would be certain you should be able to get a playable experience of the game . My laptop has dual 260 M and I have ran titanfall at 1600 * 900 with some settings at medium and good few settings at low . It Ran at about 30 - 45 Fps and was fairly smooth . So I would say play around with the game settings and you should be able to find a playable experience .

Yeah I can play BF4 and Titanfall, but only on low.
I want to upgrade the card to get no lag spikes.
After talking with the guy on dell, he told me my card could get lag spikes and it was normal, my drivers is fine so it need to be something with the card, thats why I want to get a GTX 680m, if I can run Battlefield 4 / Titanfall on like medium or something with good fps

If I was in your shoes I would go for an AMD card . They seem to be easier to work with in terms of upgrading your system . I would recommend a 7970 and once you get it installed and it's working sell the GTX 560 . If you go down the Ebay route only buy a card backed with a warranty from the seller .
