    Hi guys, got a r4 with a sign of wear on the touch pad and want to replace it.. now there's multiple r3 palmrests on ebay, and i am wondering if they are direct compatible, seems like there is no info on this subject and Alienware tech support doesn't seem to want to respond to question..

    The R3 and R4 use exactly the same chassis so it will work. The only difference between the R4 and R3 is that the R4 uses a newer chipset so it can have better CPU's and GPU's. The ports on both motherboards are identical, so yes. An R3 palmrest or bottom case will fit perfectly on an R4.

    ohhh Thanks, well i just read about an Msata port for the m17x r4 and not for r3, so that's why i'm so afraid.

    the only difference is the image of usb2.0 and 3.0 which doesnt matter at all :)
