I literally just got my laptop today, and wanted to take a couple pictures with my new puppy.

It says "No webcam detected", so I read the literature..and found out that you have to turn it on by pressing FN + F9, which I proceeded to do.. it then says to activate its function through the Microsoft Windows operating system.

I have no idea what that means, tried finding the answer to it so I can take some pictures.

Assistance is appreciated, sorry if it's a duplicated question.. I checked the first few pages of the forum.

Try searching for the app in windows. Go to Start Menu and type Live! Central, It should bring up the webcam app.

if not, look for the webcam installer disc in your box, it should be there. try installing and see what happens.

I found the Live! Central app, and it just doesn't show any image.. at the bottom it says "No webcam detected"

I will try reinstalling it.. and see.

To the second response.. thank you but I definitely can see the little webcam thing behind the plastic circle. Thank you though

Okay, so I tried this and I got the "no supported devices" in the Dell webcam central app. I pressed Fn+F9 and the camera thing went dark, pressed again and it lit up. Then the app recognized the device. Kind of strange but it's working.

well i searched the web, there's another trick .. u must plugin a USB device then turn on the camera in order for the webcam to work.
for me, i only press Fn + F9 ! wait a moment for windows to install the driver for the webcam ! good luck to you then.
