I am also loving it. It has incorporated all of the wonderful things from Fallout 3 and New Vegas with things that I loved from Oblivion. You can mine ore (WoW) and then build your own armor and accessories. This game has gotten epic and timeless written all over it. Dungeons in Oblivion consisted of running through and killing all of the NPCs or monsters, looting chests, and maybe finding something nice at the end. Skyrim has you stopping to mine ore and do all kinds of other things.

For those of you who prefer a more stealthy character, there is more than just hidden or visible. The eye shape around your reticule shows how close you are to being detected. It is nice to have that 'gray' area rather than just being instantly detected.

There are now perks, and an actual leveling path, similar to the Fallout series. There are also cinematic kills now too, also similar to Fallout.

The graphics are gorgeous, and you can run the game quite beautifully on almost any rig. I am currently on my Wife's laptop, and it has a 555M with a 2720 CPU. I can easily tune to run a constant 60fps on this setup, so those of you with more powerful computers will have this game looking absolutely stunning.

I love this game so far, and I can see myself draining many mindless hours into it.

ridiculously beautiful graphics, I just finished the prologue, even the introductory part is awesome, this game will be the game of the year again, bethesda did it again... just gorgeous...

reading books in the game have never been this fun, it is quite distinct from other games, you really evolve into something as you play, elder scrolls is something else :)

i guess i'm in the minority here when i say i'm not entirely amazed by the graphics. I expected more.

BUT, i am happy to report that the game runs completely smooth on my computer at ULTRA with nothing overclocked.

    I dropped the AA to 4x cause i didn't think i really needed 8x

I think Skyrim's graphics make Oblivion's graphics look like a PS1 game. The water, the particle effects, the NPC facial expressions. I could go on all day. Skyrim with the Crysis engine...I would pay $100 for that game.

Anyone experiencing really quiet sound? I have the regular audio (not xfi) and when pumped up to full volume both in game and master volume speech is barely audible. Using headphones works fine but they start to hurt after hours of wearing them haha.

So, all in all is there anyways I can boost the volume?

    what are your specs?

My computer listed in my sig (completely not overclocked cause i didn't need to for this game) is running constant 40-50 fps on ULTRA with the sharpness mod (fps hit of about 1-4)

700? stock is 715 and there is no way you have the 6990m memory at 1400. Your card would melt lol

    What are your specs.

I'm running cats 11.10 wsql and everything on the computer is stock in this game for me. No need to overclock anything at all

I'm running 1920x1080 ULTRA preset 4xAA 16xAF and there are zero slowdowns.

This game has so far exceded my expectations

    8gb 1333mhz ddr3

I'm gonna stress test my cards later today, having some weird noises under load and have had numerous issues with performance in a variety of games + general stability issues. My 5 year old HP actually runs windows faster and in a more stable condition =/.

ya, you have to keep your eyes glued for a CAP update or game patch. With crossfire running, you will run this game completely smooth

more than amazing, i just finished bleak falls, towards the end when I was moving in between traps, I hit one of them, and literally jumped in my chair :D :D :D

EDIT: I forgot to ask :) is there any chance this sharpness mod will ruin something about game files? or can it cause unstability?

Oops my bad (no idea where I got those numbers). I have a Clevo 6990M and I am at 740/1000. Rest of specs below. Basically on the ultra preset with x4 aa and x16 af my machine doesn't cope. I get slowdowns in cities like Whiterun -_- and the rest is like 45 FPS + but that feels laggy for me.

It can't be my CPU because that's OCed and more than enough. Lots of people are reporting poor performance and idk why.

45+ feels laggy for you?!! wow talking about high standards :) btw people can anybody talk about this sharpness tweaks and their experience how is it going? I don't want to kill the GPU for over qualified graphics, the guy says 10-20 fps drop, is this true? I am running right now everything maxed at 40fps, I don't want to fry the GPU (just bought the laptop, must be gentle about it :))

On this game yes, but on let's say Crysis 2, no. This game was designed to be run at 60FPS, like Rage. So any less and you notice the stutter/slowdown.

My main issue is slowdowns to 30FPS and lower in cities though and it's making me rage.

I'm using 11.10 latest one I think. What are your exact exact settings and tweaks in the ini file?
Also you must have some slowdown in towns like Whiterun, especially looking down at it from the top at Dragonsreach.
Max clocks I can go are the ones in my sig as temps become an issue.

No slowdowns at all, except for situation described bellow. Its been 17 hrs and i've trekked across a nice chunk of the map, gone into multiple caves, towns, killed my first dragon etc...so if its going to slowdown, i would have experienced by now. No slowdowns anywhere

The one sore point i did have was that the companion seems to cause lag in certain places when i installed a few mods to make the game look better for PC. I experiemented with clocks, went up to 830/1250. Game did not lag in those areas with my companion anymore. I bumped my clocks down to 780/1050 (no need for more) and visually, to my eyes, no difference from 830/1250 so i left it there.

    I'm running the Ultra preset, 4xaa, 16af...no tweaks to ini...cats 11.10 wsql

I'm having a couple bugs, but nothing too bad.

Sometimes I crash right to desktop.

More often than not I get soundcard skipping and complete system failure. I don't think this is Skyrim though...I think it is the m17x-r2, as I have seen this crash before.

The only really annoying bug so far is that I found a dragon, and each time I fight him - typically when he is almost dead - the whole system crashes with that sound bug.

Go to control panel > Sound > Playback Tab & right click/properties over speakers/headphones > advanced tab and set 24 bit 44100 Hz (studio Quality) the default format. This should fix the skyrim crash to desktop.

I decided to reinstall Win 7 Ultimate x64 + latest drivers for everything and now every game is getting 10+ FPS more than before. So that means Skyrim is running like butter :) Pretty happy for now

The occassional slowdown in cities like Whiterun is a common thing for a lot of people on the Bethesda PC support forums, and it's pretty much because it's a poor console port. I think they have a patch on the way + new AMD drivers should fix it all

I have 5.1 speakers plugged in. Front speakers into the front most audio input, then the rear speakers in the following and the center/sub into the spdif input.
My friend with the same laptop said that I am not getting true 5.1 but I hear sound out of every speaker when I play music and stuff.

IF you are referring to the generally quiet sound, turn on "loudness equilization" on the properties of your various audio devices and it fixes the problem. Be warned, this basically makes everything louder.
