Hi, first of all these are my specs.

    Alienware M17x R4:
    Intel i7-3630QM
    6GB Ram
    500GB HDD
    Win 7
    2.4 GHz
    Radeon HD 7970m

I'm not that smart with computers but I've seen people going as far as 100+ FPS with this Graphics card and nearly the same specs. Even if I play games like League of Legends I get capped at 60 FPS but once in a while it will drop down to around 30 or 40 FPS which I find weird because my computer with a 9800GTX+ is not even dropping. And how do I raise my FPS cap on my M17x?
I played games like Metro 2033 and during explosions etc I get as low as 20 FPS with maxed out graphics. I don't think it should be a problem to max out a game with a 7970m because I've seen people play BF3 with no problems at all. Any suggestions you guys can give me to turn this 7970m into a beast? And please explain with a bit more detail cause I'm not "computer smart", thanks!

I'll get back to you on that due to me being away from my laptop. But I just got my M17x a few days ago, shouldn't these things be done already? And for other people, what are the best driver atm for the 7970m?

^That and FN+F7 to switch to dedicated graphics if you're still having problems. That should solve most of the poor gpu utlization issue with Enduro.

Is the cap 2 part of the download or is it seperate? And would this lead to a higher fps? Also when I download it should I remove my other driver first? Thanks

It's separate. Yes, go into your control panel, then add or remove programs. Click on the catalyst contol center and do express uninstall. After uninstalling and restarting your laptop, install the 12.11 beta11 and restart. Then install the CAP2, restart for the final time, and you're done. Everything you need is here AMD Catalyst

If your clock speeds and temps are fine, and you're running the latest drivers. I don't think there should be any problems with your fps. In some games that run between 50-60 fps, and are on vsync, I've noticed that fps drops are more frequent than if that same game was without vsync (i believe it's because the GPU doesn't need to work as hard to maintain vsync 60fps.. so it is not prepared for an explosive scene.. disabling vsync prevents this IMO). First thing you should do for any game with such problems is disable vsync.

As for Metro 2033, everyone experiences those fps drops. A big improvement to fps, for me at least, was going to the video settings... then the 'advanced dx11 settings' or whatever it was called and disabling 'advanced DoF (depth of field)' again whatever it was called :p

I have Alienware m17x and I get fps ranging from 30 - 300fps in tf2, maximum 10fps in arma3 dayz I get 20, is wrong? I used to get constant 300fps in tf2, constant 40fps in arma 3?? I really don't understand.. is it busted? overheated?

Try monitoring the temperatures. Let us know the results... idle and while gaming.
