    They both look really good to me as well that's why i'm having a tough time choosing. I've found lots of live pictures of the black but i can't find any live pictures of the silver to compare. Does anyone have any links showing live pictures of the M17x in silver?

    come on man, it's your laptop... and you want us to decide the color for you? at any rate, black is the safe pick, while silver certainly has its merits if you don't mind attracting a bit more attention.

    I chose black but then again when I buy anything that I choose a color for it's usually black. I don't remember the last time I bought a different color car. ;)

    I prefer silver. The black could be plastic from a distance, it doesnt really show off the construction. But the silver is unmistakenly aluminium even from a distance, reminds me of a macbook a little. That side shot in the gallery (with the ports etc) just looks awesome in silver imo.

    It's looks too much like an Asus or Sager to me. Besides the color of the lights will be emphasized more against a black background.

    Let me give you my analysis... If you go black, it is going to be two tone, the laptop and the Alien FX, thus a little simpler and a little slimmer looking due to it's being full black... The silver is tri-tone which I think looks a little strange as the outside is silver (part black), the inside is black with the Alien fx... It will look slightly chunkier due to the silver finish, and will look a little odd when using certain FX colors... Therefore I think black is the better way to go, as it looks trimmer and has a good contrast with the AlienFX!

    I don't know how much of a fingerprint magnet this will be. It can't be as bad as the M1730.

    For me that really isn't a big deal... I have a 13" black macbook as well... It shows a few smudges but I still love the finish and color... BLACK GOES WITH EVERYTHING!!! lol

    I've been reading about people calling it tri-tone, and how it'll look weird with the combination of silver/black/AlienFX...but to be honest, it doesn't look weird at all to me, pretty awesome infact (I'd change the lighting to blue personally)

    That's not bad at all. When you use the fiber cloth on the screen give the back a quick wipe. :) Ever own an all glossy system? They're much worse.

    I got silver. All my computer stuff is black, will be nice to have something that stands out. And I just think it looks cooler.

    I couldn't afford to do as many upgrades as I would've liked, I just got 1920x1200 screen and a blu-ray drive, and 1 TB of hard drive for all my unorganized mess I'm sure to make. Would've liked the dual 280M GPUs, but I hope the default single 260M will still be ok for me.

    Pretty good! IMO, $400 for an extra 2gb of ram isn't worth it. I think that $400 would be better off going towards a 2 or 3 year CC warranty. You can always upgrade the RAM yourself when 4gb modules get cheaper!
