    Someone please help.
I thought I was adept at working my computer. Unfortunately my Alienware M17x has been running a bit slow with movies. Lags in video and audio have been a bit irratating. That is not the reason for this thread though, the real reason is that I thought that by deleting a few of the programs I downloaded would speed up my computer. Unfortunately I deleted more than what I downloaded. Now my function keys (audio, playback, eject disc, alienfx editor) in the upper right had corner now does not operate. Also, I deleted "IDT audio" thinking it was one I downloaded. I then downloaded "Driver Dective" to try and find out what I was missing. It downloaded another driver to work my audio.
My question for the forum is; What can I do to fix my stupid mistake? Do I need to download a driver? If so, which one? Should I restore my whole computer to factory settings? Would that work?
    Thank you all.

You can go to the Dell support webpage, enter the service tag number on your computer and it will show you the drivers you should have. You can download them from that page.

    Hello and welcome to NBR.

First of all, download all drivers from Dell's support site (except display and wireless probably, your call on this one), don't use other programs to decide what driver you need.

For the capacitive buttons (eject disk, volume etc.) you need to download OSD (On screen display). You'll also find the IDT audio driver on Dell's page too.

Make sure to select the M17x model you own.

FWIW, Driver Detective is not that good. I had it for a year and dumped it about a year ago.
