So i think i got a factory defect on my alienware m17x r3 ( i have the advanced warranty)
The issues are:
1. Pixel sized scratch on screen
2. A tiny chuck of plastic missing from the chasis area located under the numpad *not under the numpad literally but you know what i mean*
3.Some shiny plastic coating/plastic missing from the Touchpads Alienfx and chasis above the Alienfx
4. Small scratch on the area above the screen *not on the screen but on the front cover
5. Sometimes when i shake it theres a moving sound inside the laptop as if theres a unscrewed screw moving around it in
So, What do you think alienware support will do? Send a replacement unit *since it is a factory defect* ? Repair it ?
Also i wonder if they will put my hdds i got with the laptop in the replacement unit *and the laser etched name*
So what do you guys think they will do?
I had this laptop for almost a month now, but i didn't really mind the issues till now.
So, Please tell me what you think.

Call Dell and explain conditions. See what they say and then go from there.

Since you appear to be beyond the 21-day return period, they are not going to send a replacement unit for what are essentially cosmetic shortcomings. They will probably replace the offending parts.

So do you think they will replace it
Also Do you think they will put my hdd in the replacement unit?
Also just a quip about this forum
i been lurking without a account for a while and in think your one of the most helpfull members on this forum -
look like your still good in the return period, just call customer support, prolly will offer you a replacement.

Yep, if you're still in the return period, you can probably get a replacement to avoid a refund. I thought you said you had it a month or so. When I got a replacement. they told me the 21-day return period began on the date the unit was shipped, but I did not make any effort to corroborate that because it did not come into play in my situation.
If you get a replacement unit, you keep your current laptop until the new unit arrives. Shortly thereafter, they will send a shipping label to cover the return of the original computer using the box for the second unit. There will be an overlap of several days to over a week. During that time you could exchange the drives yourself, though technically you are supposed to return the original as delivered.
Thanks for the kind words. Welcome to the club. -
Well i called alienware and they said that they will try to replace the parts first
than i said since i am in the 21 day policy and its a factory defect which it is
they said they can offer me a refund and stuff but since the laptop had a discount and it doesn't any more so i don't want a refund
So are you sure they can send me a replacement unit Also the support guy said he will check it, i got a bad feeling he will say no replacement is possible,
Did i get a bad support guy or something?
Since as you said i am in the 21 day return policy but i don't want to return it i want to exchange it, Whats the chance i can get that done
Exchange it for a new unit i mean
Basically i want a new replacement unit instead of a refund and seeing as i am in the 21 return policy theres a slight chance thats possible
What are your thoughts on this
Also sorry for this confusing message i just got off the phone with the support guy and i am a bit worried -
The Revelator Notebook Prophet
With my first one, which I purchased with a 22% discount, the issue of the discount or the amount paid, was never mentioned. I told them I was unhappy with the unit and wanted a refund or a new replacement with identical specs. They didn't hesitate to process the order for the replacement. Dell does not like refunds. They will even sometimes offer you some inducement not to seek a refund. When talking to them, do not say you don't want a refund. Act as if a refund would really be the best course so you can order at some later time or look around for alternatives. There's some risk they will agree, but it's unlikely. I suspect you will get your replacement.
Of course they can send you a replacement; they just enter a production order for a new machine. You get a new order number and it starts over. The customer rep can do it all quickly and easily. The thing is don't delay, push the point while you are still in the 21 day period.
