    Hi guys...

I having a problem with my M17x R3, every time i defrag my HDD and when it comes about to 70% defragmentation, it goes BSoD!
What did i do wrong? I've also tried Piriform's Defraggler, it works when i tick quick defrag but if i use full defrag, it just goes to BSoD again! Please help me, this is the only BSoD situation i have met, my M17x R3 is fine except the defragmentation thing. Oh, and by the way, i've almost tried 20 times and it still keeps doing BSoD when i'm doing full defrag on my hard drive.

You aren't using the A04 bios are you? It has alot of BsoD errors on just about everything.

Revert to A03 if you are on A04.

To check, restart comp, press F2 till u get into setup, then look at the first page. Should say current bios in the grayed out areas.

If the BSoD reports an error with your HDD, chances are your HDD is dying.

Yes sir zoolian982 i do have the BIOS A04 just as you'd expected... sorry for not being able to reply soon, i conducted a survey and observation on my M17x R3, so far only two kinds of BSoD 'unbehaved' in my laptop.
One is the defragment thing and the other is that when i play hardcore games like Lost Planet 2 for about 1-2 hours the screen crashes and goes into BSoD, i think it's in the video card driver.
I will do just as you said, i hope it will fix the issues, however is it safe reverting back to A03? What are the risk?

    Hi,
I finally found a way to fix it for good. What dumbknot am i... I just updated my hard drive to its latest driver of Intel RAID right now, then i did 3 consecutive defragments today. Then i did a reboot, then another full defrag, no BSoDs anymore... and i say hello to less fragmented files now.
I hate Dell rushing their Alienware laptop production, i know they got good rigs, but rushing production is not good, not very good.
Oh and i'm thinking of reverting to BIOS A03, for less unexpected BSoDs.
    Thanks for the help!
