The recovery disk would put you in the same position as the installation disk. Your not gonna be able to use alienware respawn as the Hard Drive with the recovery Partition is dead and cannot be accessed. :(

Actually you won't need the Alienware Resource DVD for this. You can also do it this way:

    Install the operating system
As the HDD is new you shouldn't have any partitions yet (all free space shows up as unallocated), however if you do, make sure you delete them all
Create a new partition with at least 15GB (20GB to be sure if you'd like)
Then create a partition with the remaining space in your hard drive
Install windows in the bigger partition
Install all the drivers needed for the M17x R3

Also, here's the wallpapers that came with the computer, as well as the software that you purchased it with.

Let us know how it goes

I don't understand what you mean. I am looking to re-image the hard as it originally came. I talking about the original restore disc that came with the computer. Not something I made. Please explain, your help is appreciated.

But if I do it this way, I will not get back the recovery partition that was originally there. I am trying to get it back exactly like when I took it out of the box with the recovery partition. How do I do this. Thanks appreciate the quick reply.

Let me just ask is there any way possible to put back the recovery partition that originally came with Alienware without having the original hard drive to clone. Is there any restore/recovery disc that can do this?

    ^^

It is! Sorry I forgot to include the link to download alienrespawn.

The 20GB partition I mentioned above is exactly for this purpose. Alienrespawn is the recovery partition. Once your system is ready to go, just install it and it will create the recovery partition.

So I did everything you said, download and install AlienRespawn but it didn't work to put a restore image on the 17gb partition that I made for it it only gave me the option to create media or use a thumb drive. What am I doing wrong?

Did you ever figure this out? I'm about to embark of the same mission, but with an m11x R1. Hoping not to run into any issues with the Alien Respawn portion.
