I finally 100% finished my Gloss White refurb on this R4. I had been waiting to find a replacement 675M for it.

Looks awesome but I prefer in another color, with my kid around the white would disappear in a few hours lol
You could also paint the plastic parts around the keyboard and front lights/sound, only to avoid tiny black parts l.
Also it would be great to also paint the touch pad but in this case I wouldn't recommend for sure x) to avoid any damage on the sensitive sensor.
It's great to remove the rubber thing that is annoying! Ohhh how I miss my R1/R2, it was heavy but the finishing material was from another level, really awesome.

Thanks. I thought about painting the keyboard bezel, I have done it a few times and it's not too hard but decided to leave it stock this time. I have also painted the touchpad buttons before but they tend to wear due to the use. R3 below with painted bezel and buttons. I have wondered if a basic vinyl cover would work on the touchpad. I've seen wraps that cover the touchpad so it should work.

Thanks buddy. It was your M18x that got me into doing these mods.

I may have to pull the white keyboard bezel from my wife's R3 and see what it looks like on this R4.

I suspect it will look better just as you have it now. I think the black parts contrasting with the white looks great and going white on the bezel probably will not look as nice.

That's why I didn't do it this time, I like the contrast. It will only take 10 mins to swap the bezels over though so I may as well see what it looks like.

Eheh it will depend from person to person, for me it looks more clean without the black parts but with or without it is a perfect jobs!

Yes, for sure. Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. My personal favorite it for everything to be deep black with white lights and no colors. But, having something unique and tasteful that is done right is almost always amazing and better than ordinary.

I just need to get my hands on a 51M R2 so I can give something more modern a go. If anyone wants to donate me one it would be great! ;)

Indeed my friend, this post from @Maxware79 made me think to get rid of the rubber thing any easy way to do it?

    Do you mean the soft-touch?

Yes the rubber cover, the soft-touch is still in good condition on the rest pad for example but on the screen(back) it became more like a glue

To remove the soft-touch on the lid (or anywhere else) you need to use a solvent and a plastic scraping tool. It is like a clear resin that is applied to the black plastic underneath. It takes a long time and is messy. It's much easier to buy a brand new one from ebay for around $32-40USD.
You can just paint over the soft-touch and it comes out pretty good if done properly.

WOW Amazing job!! I was thinking of doing something very similar. What paint brand did you use and did you powder coat the metal shell?

Thanks. I prefer to use Rust-Oleum 2x Ultra Cover spray paint. Unfortunately there's a huge shortage of their products in Australia right now which has made things difficult. I just use a primer, colour and then clear coat. I wet sand with various grit papers between coats and then a buff/polish at the end.

No problemo. I also sometimes use Dupli-color colour match paint for some projects, if I want a more metallic look. I'm just about to start an M18x R2 and I'll probably go for a metallic yellow or green.
