Hi Guys,
I finally got the cash to get a notebook cooler for my 17x...Now reading through all the threads here, it seems the Cooler Master Notepal U3 is highly recommended and I do actually like it.. Only issue with it is that it raises the laptop at an angle and I would like to have my laptop raised but not at such a steep angle.. Ideally, I would like to have a notebook cooler like it with adjustable fans but not with such a steep angle...
I've bee looking at a few coolers such as the Thermaltake Massive 23 LX, Zalman NC 2000nt, NC 3500 and they have peaked my interest... Out of the lot, I'm looking more towards the Zalman NC 3500 as it will fit the entire 17 with nothing hanging out unlike the Massive 23.. It also looks less flashy and more professional..
I just wanted some opinions on what would be the best to get out of these 3 or any others. If you have any of these coolers, I would appreciate if you left some information about how they performed too..
Thanks,
Tom

Have you ever had a look at the thermaltake massive 14 squared? I heard that was one of the best coolers available.

I'm really looking towards the Zalman NC 3500... Has anyone used it here? Any opinions?

Zalman are generally good when it comes to cooling. I'd give it a look. The only thing that puts me off though is that it's one fan.

I combined the U3 and the HD3 cooling mats. Best combination for a cooler I've ever made, but pricey.
HD3 Gaming Chill Mat⢠| Targus
Might suit your needs better. -

I used the Zalman NC 3500 earlier with my Alienware 17, but thought it was a failure. Bought Instead, a Cooler Master Notepal U3 and modified it with 12v fans and a separate power supply. It worked much better.[

Tbh guys, the U3 is not to my tastes as I have said before due to the notebook being at such a steep angle on it and I don't have an external keyboard etc so my hands will pain... Also, not really a fan of modding.. Papsun, you had a NC 3500.. Why do you consider it to be a failure? Didn't your temps decrease even a bit with it? I'm not looks for a massive decrease tbh.. 3-5C is more than enough...
Also guys, can the notepal u3 be used inverted? In the sense, the laptop being on the former bottom side and the fans being on the former top side... Is the laptop then at a less steep angle then? Any pictures of this if this is possible? -
Maybe you could put a piece of wood to make it even under it? It'd be a bit raised so you'd have to put it on a smaller table or something
-
Cut a large hole in the tabletop at one table, so you can create a fastener to Cooler Master U3 Then attach cooler under the hole in the tabletop. You can not get any flatter than that.
